ARCHITECTURE

A spacious swimming pool works as a lap pool by day and transforms into a dramatically lit central feature by night, sparkling with blue and white LEDs, surrounded by tropical border plants and hurricane lamps that altogether create a charming ambiance throughout the villa. A touch of European elegance adds charm with classical columns set around deep verandahs and large windows, maximizing Bali’s wonderful tropical sunlight.

Careful thought went into all materials used in construction, for example the use of ironwood on decking and roof tiles, which ages into a lovely soft grey over time. Local materials were used wherever possible. Tongue and groove paneling and balustrades, carved from local Bankerai wood, helped to create the boathouse feel and the perimeter walls were built using rugged local Bukit stone.

Interiors are pristine white. Lounges covered in off-white linen with splashes of color seen in scatter cushions. Rattan lounges and stunning bamboo beds add to the relaxed Asian ambiance with Dutch East Indies travel posters and watercolor illustrations completing the look.
