Accommodation at Des Indes III is in three adjoining pavilions arranged in an L-shape around the 16-metre swimming pool. The social heart of the villa is the huge open-sided living pavilion facing the length of the pool, across which is a large balé. To the right is the sleeping pavilion with two large bedroom suites opening onto the pool terrace. Tucked into the corner of the L is a two-storey building with seating area, bar, kitchen and guest washroom downstairs and, above, a third bedroom suite with a terrace. A wall of plantation shutters and three sets of doors separates Des Indes III from nieghbouring Des Indes II, which can be closed off for complete privacy or opened when both villas are rented together to make a five bedroom abode.
The huge fan-cooled open-sided living pavilion – its soaring teakwood-lined roof supported on massive teakwood pillars – is the villa’s social hub. Opening onto the swimming pool and surrounded on three sides by koi ponds dotted with islands of heliconia, this is Bali-style living at its best. Old-style cane sofas and planters chairs are arranged around coffee tables in two distinct seating areas, and ten guests may gather around the teak dining table in cushioned comfort. On the other side of the pool is a large cushion-covered balé big enough for a crowd; sun-seekers will gravitate to the sun loungers set on the pool terrace. Across the koi pond is a bar area with antique style seating and, behind the service bar, a very well-equipped kitchen with sophisticated coffee maker and wine fridge.
Des Indes III’s three bedrooms are spacious and handsomely designed, with high teakwood-lined vaulted ceilings, polished wood floors, and custom-designed display cabinets. They each feature a large four-poster bed, colonial-style furniture, oriental rugs, and striking art and artefacts – a rich visual counterpoint to the ultra-modern 47-inch curved TVs with satellite channels and DVD players. The upstairs bedroom has its own roof terrace while the two ground floor bedrooms open onto the pool terrace. All three feature fans and air-conditioning as well as a large air-conditioned marble bathroom with dressing area, bathtub, twin basins, and walk-in shower enclosure.
Des Indes Villas makes a great villa choice for families. Equipment at the villa includes a baby cot and high chair. Many other items (including booster seat, baby bath and pool fence) can be supplied on request for a small additional charge. The capacity at Des Indes III is 6 adults (3 ensuite bedrooms with king-size beds); 1 sofa bed for additional guest use plus 2 extra beds may be set up on request (additional charge applies after 6 guests).
In-villa spa treatments selected from a comprehensive spa menu can be carried out by visiting spa therapists too (extra cost applies).
The Villa is quietly tucked away within Seminyak’s exclusive Laksmana Estate, moments from the surfing beach of Petitenget and some of Bali’s most iconic restaurants and bars.
