This is the perfect Canggu luxury villa for a family or group of friends with a love for contemporary design and a desire to experience Bali in style. Cool and breezy during the day while mellow and cosy at night, this villa’s extraordinary combination of dark wood, volcanic stone, splashes of colour and Eastern traditional art perfectly reflect the Singaporean owner’s keen eye for modern architecture and design.
This villa epitomises the concept of yin and yang. The moment you step outside your room, you cross a little moat – a feature that provides the whole outside area with the calming sound of flowing water. Yet it also comes with its very own purpose-built karaoke room, guaranteeing endless hours of fun. The professional and discrete staff will tend to your every need, while the chef takes pride in cooking a perfect fusion of Indonesian and Western meals that will suit most people’s taste.
Villa Kayajiwa is built in an L-shape around a stunning 25-metre pool with a large wooden sun deck and tropical garden. Most of the villa’s rooms are on the ground floor and are connected with a walkway, with the exception of the massage room, the twin-bedded guest room and a large roof terrace, which are all on the first floor. The villa’s layout and the picture-perfect rice-field views make it a great spot for entertaining, relaxing and experiencing outdoor tropical living.
The wall panels in the living and dining space can be opened up entirely. This provides a perfect opportunity for experiencing outdoor tropical living while overlooking the pool and enjoying a lovely cooling breeze (although the space can equally be closed and air-conditioned if a cooler environment is preferred). The dining room is furnished with a stunning solid wood table which can easily seat twelve, while the warm tones of the living room, combined with the colourful sofas and the beautiful ornaments (including a very impressive Balinese wedding crown), give this space a very authentic Eastern feel.
The kitchen is across the corridor from the living room and has all modern comforts and appliances, including a very large fridge and worktop. It is used by staff for preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner, but guests are welcome to make use of the kitchen as they please.
The purpose-built karaoke room is perfect for singing your heart out. From western ballads to Asian K-pop, the karaoke machine will be able to handle most of your song choices. It has its own bathroom and two large sofas.
There’s also a spa room upstairs with a massage table and a separate bathroom which is shared with the adjacent twin guest bedroom.
Villa Kayajiwa is perfectly set up for outdoor living with a 25-metre pool and a large jacuzzi which flows into the pool. On the wooden sun deck are four comfortable loungers. There’s also a spacious balé – great for an afternoon snooze.
The large tropical garden is bordered by a moat, and the sound of running water throughout the outdoor spaces creates a relaxing oasis. Upstairs is a large roof terrace with a barbecue pit and stunning rice field views. With two outdoor sofas, this is the perfect sun-trap during the day and a great spot for sunset cocktails in the evening.
The master bedroom is very large indeed. Its four-poster bed has a beautiful velvet canopy, which gives the room a very romantic, almost palatial feel. It comes with a separate dressing room and an adjacent space that can be used as a small office area. In the ensuite bathroom is a very inviting stone tub and shower.
The two large guest bedrooms downstairs are mirror images of each other and come with king-sized beds and dressing rooms. The wooden furnishings and authentic Balinese paintings provide a very cosy environment and each bedroom comes with air conditioning, TV and mini bar. Both bedrooms also have semi-open air ensuite bathrooms with a shower and tub, which overlooks a lovely little private patio garden.
The fourth, slightly smaller guest bedroom is upstairs, furnished with two single beds that can be joined to make a double. This room has an ensuite bathroom which it shares with the adjacent massage room. Wooden hatches on either side provide perfect views over the rice fields on one side and the pool on the other.
Villa holidays are a great option for families, providing plenty of private and secure space for everyone, and giving guests the freedom to choose what they want to do and when they want to do it. Not having to worry about disturbing other guests is also a plus – creating a more relaxing time for parents and children too. Villa Kayajiwa’s large garden and enormous pool will more than likely keep your children and teenagers entertained for hours. Not to mention the karaoke room! Because of the moat and the prominence of the pool, however, parents with very young children will need to keep a close watch. A pool fence can be hired on request (small extra charge applies).
Villa Kayajiwa is located down a quiet and safe gang (lane) just off Batu Bolong, the road which this popular area is named after. It’s an easy 20-minute walk to Batu Bolong Beach – a surfing spot that’s great for beginners – and close to Berawa Beach and Echo Beach which are better suited to more accomplished surfers. An area long popular with expats, Batu Bolong is one of the trendiest areas in Canggu and pulls in a young and relaxed beach crowd, attracted by its coffee shops, juice bars and boutiques, as well as its excellent nightlife. This area has a lovely hipster vibe to it, without ever feeling too crowded. Everyone’s just happy to be there – a feeling that perfectly captures the spirit of Canggu.
If you’re into yoga and meditation, you’re only minutes away from The Practice and Serenity, two of Canggu’s most popular yoga studios. Both are based in beautiful bamboo buildings and offer a variety of daily workshops and courses.
If you like eating out, Batu Bolong has some very exciting high-quality dining just around the corner. For breakfast and brunch there’s Betelnut which has a great selection of hearty options, or The Shady Shack if you prefer healthy vegan food. For dining we can recommend Moana Fish Eatery which serves excellent dishes in a lovey Hawaiian themed atmosphere or Luigi’s for some top notch Neapolitan pizzas.
Samadi farmers market is just a short walk away. It runs twice weekly, with stallholders from different family-run farms from around Bali. It also has a great mix of local and expat craftspeople offering their wares.
You can explore the scenic rice-field landscape and nearby rural villages such as Pererenan and Seseh by bicycle; a great way to get under the skin of the ‘real’ Bali. Stop off at a local warung (eatery) to sample some basic Balinese fare.
One of the highlights of staying in a private luxury villa in Bali is the personal service provided by a team of professionally trained staff. The staff at Villa Kayajiwa will tend to your every need with the charm and friendliness for which the Balinese are so well known. Just let your villa manager know how much staff presence you’re comfortable with – for example, at mealtimes only, or on hand to serve iced drinks throughout the day – and service can be tailored to suit your preferences.
Villa Kayajiwa has its own spa room with massage table. Depending on your mood you can either open the beautifully crafted Balinese doors to enjoy views of the nearby rice fields, or keep things cool and subdued to experience the esoteric magic of the room. Alternatively, enjoy a treatment outdoors by the pool or on the roof terrace.
This four bedroom Canggu Villa is in an ideal location to explore this popular area of Bali and to spend quality time with family on your Bali Villa holiday!
