The sublime Shalimar Estate comprises of three separate beachfront villas: Villa Cantik, Villa Makanda and Villa Kalima. With 4 bedrooms – the beautiful Villa Makanda is central to the others.

The beautiful abodes sit in a row facing out over the Indian Ocean on a stretch of beach which is perfect for surfing and beach play. They are approached through a grand entrance overlooked by the protection of a large stone Buddha.

The vast, open plan living area is centrally located at the rear of Villa Makanda and faces over the tropical grace of an inviting 20 metre swimming pool and the stylishly landscaped lawn and garden. Beyond a small dividing hedge and pockets of palms, lies the ocean which is a perfect spot for surfing. Either side of the pool are immense day beds with parasols for the ultimate in luxurious poolside lounging, where in total comfort guests can sip on a cool drink or take a nap in the dying embers of the day.

Open to the joys of the garden, the living area features two large L shaped sofas which face onto large wooden coffee tables forming a great shady spot to enjoy a morning coffee and talk about the activities you have planned for the day. This area is fully equipped with a Satellite TV and a DVD player and Wi-Fi is available throughout. To the rear is a fully fitted, contemporary kitchen with all the accoutrements you will need to cater for your stay and in the middle, with great views of the garden is a sophisticated 8 seater dining table.

Here you can sample the delicious complimentary breakfast or order further meals from the in-house suggested menu which includes Western and Asian fayre as well as healthy choices and special children’s options. These meals are served family style and staff may use the commercial kitchen at the front of the villa complex to prepare so as to be as discreet as possible.

All four of the bedrooms are extensive, fully air-conditioned master suites with lavish canopy beds draped in white linens. They all feature beautiful ensuites designed with massive spa-styled baths with views over the rich surroundings, separate showers and a double vanity units. Two of the rooms are located on the ground floor either side of the living area and are reached by private wooden bridges through an abundance of tropical planting keeping them separate and private from the communal area. The further two rooms are on the first floor and have absolutely jaw-dropping views through floor to ceiling windows on three sides of the ocean, the rice paddies and the many hues of green that make this island so exceptional. These rooms are so large that they can easily accommodate an extra bed at a small charge giving a total capacity of 8 adults and 2 children.

This estate is staffed by a delightful team and includes a fleet of butlers, housekeeping staff, cooks and security guards. Guests are also given further peace of mind by the on-call villa manager and the two villa supervisors who will do their best to answer questions and facilitate any other services you require. This may include in-house spa treatments delivered by professional therapists or a driver to explore more of this amazing island. Additionally, for your convenience a grocery shopping system so you don’t need to leave at all!

Additional staff such as babysitters and drivers are available on request. Furthermore, a variety of spa treatments can be ordered from an extensive menu, all of which are delivered by professional therapists.
