Bringing a baby to Bali might feel like a big undertaking — but we are here to tell you it is
genuinely one of the best things you can do. We are an Australian family who moved to Bali in
2008 and raised our three children here. We have helped hundreds of families make the trip
with babies and toddlers in tow, and the message we give every single one of them is the same:
pack light, and let us handle the rest.
Here is everything you need to know before you go.

Babies Actually Travel Brilliantly to Bali
Here is something that surprises a lot of first-time parents — very young babies can be an
absolute dream in Bali. Pre-crawling babies are not picking up germs from the floor, they are
happy to be held and cuddled by the notoriously baby-loving Balinese, and they tend to sleep
well in the warmth. The Balinese culture has a deep love and reverence for babies and young
children — your little one will be adored everywhere you go.
It is the crawling stage that requires a little more vigilance — little hands on floors and in
gardens means a bit more germ exposure. But with the right villa setup and our team’s
guidance, this is very manageable. In our experience, families are almost always surprised by
how smoothly a Bali trip with a baby goes.

What to Pack — and What to Leave Behind
The golden rule for travelling to Bali with a baby is: pack light and use the space wisely.
Bali has come a long way in terms of baby supplies. Most essentials — nappies, formula, baby
food pouches — are available. However, because many of these items are imported, they are
more expensive than at home, the range is smaller, and they are not always easy to find at your
nearest corner store. Our advice is to bring enough supplies to cover your stay rather than
relying on finding specific brands locally.
Here is the smart packing trick we share with every family: bring your baby’s favourite snacks
and food supplies in your checked luggage for the trip over. As you work through them during
your stay, the space they free up becomes your souvenir and shopping room for the trip home.
Pack light going in, pack full coming out.
Things dry quickly in Bali’s climate too — a quick hand wash of baby clothes works perfectly and
kids tend to spend most of the day in their swimming kit anyway. You genuinely do not need to
pack as much clothing as you think.

What to definitely bring:
- Sunscreen — it is expensive in Bali, lower quality, and harder to find in the brands you
trust. Bring more than you think you need. - Liquid Panadol or Nurofen — over the counter medicine is available in Bali but liquid
children’s versions can be harder to source. Pack your own. - Baby food and snacks your baby is used to — enough for the trip, in your checked
luggage - Light long-sleeved cotton tops and leggings or pants — for mosquito protection during
morning and evening hours. - Long-sleeved sleep suits — great for nights as extra mosquito protection.
- Your usual nappies and formula for the trip over — supplement locally as needed.
- A baby carrier or sling — invaluable for temples, markets, and anywhere a stroller can’t
go
What you can leave behind:
Bulky baby gear — cots, high chairs, bouncers, monitors, stair gates and more are all
included free with your booking
• Baby bath, bottle steriliser, and potty — all provided
• Pool floats and swim vests — we have you covered
• Worry about what to do if your baby gets sick — we include local clinic information in
your pre-arrival summary and can arrange a home visit doctor if needed
Mosquitoes — The Honest Guide
Mosquitoes in Bali are most active in the morning and evening. Long sleeves and pants during
these windows make a real difference, and long-sleeved sleep suits for naps and nighttime are
a sensible precaution.
The best defence at night is air conditioning — mosquitoes dislike the cold air and will avoid an
airconditioned room. All of our villas have aircon in the bedrooms, and our baby cots also come
with mosquito nets for extra peace of mind. With both in place, nights are generally very
comfortable and well protected.

Pool and Villa Safety
Pool safety is something we take seriously and sort before you arrive. We coordinate pool fence
installation through our trusted local partners — the fence is set up before you check in and
taken down discreetly after checkout. We also assess whether any garden ponds or water
features need fencing and flag these proactively.
A couple of things worth knowing about Bali villas specifically: power sockets in Bali are not
always as safely enclosed as you are used to at home, so it is worth doing a quick check on
arrival and keeping little ones away from exposed sockets. Similarly, remind older children not
to drink pool or shower water — stick to bottled water for drinking and teeth brushing.
Medical — Be Prepared, Not Worried
Bali has good medical facilities, particularly in the main tourist areas. We include information
about the nearest reputable clinic to your villa in our pre-arrival summary, so you know exactly
where to go if you need it. We can also arrange a home visit doctor directly to your villa — a
genuinely reassuring option when you have a sick baby and do not want to leave the property.
Bring your own children’s medicines — liquid Panadol, Nurofen, and any prescription
medication your baby needs. Having these on hand means you are never scrambling at an
unfamiliar pharmacy in an unfamiliar place.

This is where we come in. Every family that books through Bali Family Villas receives a
comprehensive range of complimentary baby equipment delivered and set up at their villa

Babysitting and Nannies — A Brilliant Addition to Your Stay
One of the things that makes a Bali villa holiday so special for families is the option to have a
trusted local nanny join you during your stay. We can connect you with trusted babysitting
contacts who know Bali well and are wonderful with children.
Here is something that surprises many families: your nanny does not have to stay at the villa
while you go out. They can join you on family activities — at the beach, at a cafe, at a beach
club — as an extra pair of hands and a warm local presence who the kids quickly adore. You do
not have to leave your baby alone with them until you and your little one both feel completely
comfortable. It works at whatever pace suits your family.
Having a nanny along also means mum and dad get to actually enjoy their holiday — a sunset
cocktail, a long lunch, a morning sleep-in — without any of the guilt or worry. It is one of those
Bali additions that families tell us afterwards they wish they had booked from day one.

Our Honest Bottom Line
Bali with a baby is not just doable — it is wonderful. The warmth, the pace of life, the villa
lifestyle, and the genuine love the Balinese have for little ones makes it one of the most baby-
friendly destinations in the world. Pack light, bring your sunscreen and snacks, and let us take
care of the rest.
