Bali is one of those destinations where every area offers something completely different for
families. The question is never whether you will have a good time — it is which corner of the
island suits your family best. As Australian locals who have been living in and around Bali since
2010, we have explored every area with our own children and helped thousands of families find
the best things to do in Bali with kids.
Here is our honest, area by area guide to the best family
experiences across the island — with links to our hand-picked private pool villas in each
location, all chosen for their family friendly floor plans, free baby equipment, and local support
from our team on the ground.

Seminyak
Seminyak is one of Bali’s most walkable and family friendly areas, with a brilliant mix of beach,
culture, shopping, and kids activities all within easy reach.
Surf lessons on Seminyak Beach are a brilliant way to get everyone active together. The breaks
from Kuta through to Seminyak suit beginners and intermediates well and several great schools
including Santai Surf offer professional coaching with free pickups.
KuDeTa Kids Day on Sunday mornings is a Seminyak institution. From 8am the iconic
beachfront venue opens its doors to families with a kids menu, jumping castle, arts and crafts,
and pool access. It is one of those Bali experiences that families plan their entire holiday
around.
Tilo Kids Club spans 300 square metres of indoor fun for kids aged 4 to 12 — with music,
Balinese arts and crafts, baking, games, and a PS3 corner for older kids. Under-fours are
welcome with an adult.
The Seminyak Market and Oberoi Flea Market are a colourful, chaotic, wonderful way to spend
a morning with kids. The prices are highly inflated so bartering is part of the fun — kids love
negotiating for their own souvenir.
A Balinese cooking class with Nia Café or Coco Cooking Class is a genuinely great family
experience. Classes are casual and fun with group sessions suitable for kids aged eight and
above. Private in-villa classes can also be arranged.

eat, and explore in the area.

Canggu
Canggu has an incredible family activity scene built organically by the expat families who
actually live here year round. It is vibrant, energetic, and endlessly entertaining for kids of all
ages.
Parklife in Batubolong is a brilliant family hub — café, park, and playground all in one with
indoor and outdoor play zones, water fun, and weekly activities like story time and outdoor
movies.
Mai Main Play Centre is Canggu’s biggest dedicated play space with indoor and outdoor areas,
a lagoon style wading pool, animal feeding, a café, and a little train. Kids absolutely love it and
parents get a proper rest.
The Bali Equestrian Centre in Berewa offers pony rides and lessons with beautiful horses and
professional coaching. There is also a large brunch café overlooking the arena making it a
fantastic all-round family outing.
Surfing in Canggu is a right of passage for older kids and teenagers. Inda Surf, Silver Surf, and
Wave House all offer great lessons and free pickups in the area. At Old Man’s Beach you can
hire a longboard and have a go in the shallows.
Jewellery making classes are a surprisingly popular activity for kids and teenagers who love
coming home with something they made themselves from scratch.

has to offer.

Ubud
Ubud is Bali’s cultural heartbeat and for families who want more than just a beach holiday it is
an extraordinary destination. Nature, culture, adventure, and creativity all in one place.
The Sacred Monkey Forest is a must — ancient trees, stone carvings, a sacred temple setting,
and hundreds of playful long-tailed macaques. Keep belongings secure and avoid feeding the
monkeys for the safest experience.
White water rafting on the Agung River near Ubud is a thrilling family adventure. Mason
Adventures provide lunch, transfers, insurance, and safety gear and the experience is suitable
for children aged five and above. One of those bucket list Bali moments for older kids.
Balinese cooking classes in Ubud are some of the best on the island. Casa Luna, Ketut’s Bali
Cooking Class, and Tresna all offer family friendly sessions often including a morning market
visit to source fresh local ingredients — brilliant for curious kids.
The Ubud Royal Palace hosts nightly Balinese music and dance performances that kids find
completely captivating — fire dances, colourful masks, and the hypnotic Kecak chant. Tickets
are around $10 and well worth every cent.
Titi Batu Club is a vibrant community hub with a skate park, pool, basketball courts, playground,
spa, and restaurant all in one. A great full day destination for families with kids of all ages.

Sanur
Sanur is Bali’s most laid-back and family friendly beach area — calm waters, a beautiful
beachfront boardwalk, and a pace of life that actually feels like a holiday.
Beach life in Sanur is genuinely special. The lagoon is shallow, protected by a reef, and perfect
for young children to paddle safely while parents relax. Hire bikes along the boardwalk — child
seats are available — and stop for coconuts and banana pancakes as you go.
AeroXSpace is an indoor adventure space packed with climbing, zip lining, swinging, and
trampolining activities. The mini Ninja course is a crowd favourite and a brilliant option for a hot
day or when you want to burn some energy indoors.
Clip N Climb Sanur is a vibrant indoor climbing arena with colourful walls and routes for all skill
levels — a safe and exciting activity for kids and adults to tackle together.
Bali Wake Park is a water lover’s paradise with wakeboarding, kneeboarding, waterskiing, and
the Aqua Land inflatable playground. A massive fun day out for families with older kids and
teenagers.
Icon Mall Sanur sits right on the oceanfront and offers a cinema, toy shop, food court, and
holiday shopping — a great wet weather or midday sun option with easy access from the beach
boardwalk.

Uluwatu and the Bukit
Uluwatu is dramatic, beautiful, and full of surprises for families. Clifftop temples, world class
surf, kids clubs, and some of the most spectacular sunset views in Bali.
The Kecak Fire Dance at Uluwatu Temple is one of those Bali experiences that genuinely stays
with you forever. Perched high on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, the chanting, the fire, the
costumes, and the setting combine to create something completely unforgettable. Arrive early
for good seats and watch out for the cheeky temple monkeys.
Sundays Beach Club is tucked below Uluwatu’s cliffs and accessed by a fun inclinator ride down
to a private white sand beach. Spend the day swimming, paddling, and lazing by the water with
wood-fired pizzas and sunset bonfires. Check the tide chart before visiting — low tide is best.
Pangolin Kids Club is a beautiful space designed for open-ended creative play with indoor and
outdoor zones, grassy tunnels, and climbable hills. Day passes and fun programmes are
available making it a brilliant option for parents who want a morning to themselves.
ATV quad biking through scenic jungle tracks at ATV Bukit Sari is a brilliant adventure for older
kids and teenagers. Single and tandem rides available — a proper adrenaline-filled morning.
Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali’s most iconic spots reached through a narrow cliff passage
and down some steps. Crystal water, golden sand, local warungs grilling fresh seafood, and a
magical atmosphere make it well worth the adventure to get there.

else the area has to offer.

Nusa Lembongan
Just a 30-minute fast boat ride from Sanur, Nusa Lembongan is a world completely apart from
the mainland — low traffic, crystal clear water, and a pace of life that feels like an absolute
reset.
Snorkelling in Lembongan’s crystal clear waters is the activity that everyone talks about. The
marine life is spectacular — vibrant reefs, colourful fish, and if you are lucky manta rays and the
extraordinary mola-mola sunfish. Your villa team can arrange boat trips and equipment with
ease.
The famous Yellow Bridge connecting Nusa Lembongan to sister island Nusa Ceningan is a
Lembongan landmark — bright yellow, suspended over turquoise water, and only crossable on
foot or by scooter. Walking it with the kids is a must and from there you can explore the island
by buggy for a proper adventure.
The Coconut Hut Mini Golf is a brilliantly fun family activity Lembongan style — 18 holes of
hilarious island mini golf with a great kids menu and cold drinks for mum and dad.
Nusa Islands Surf School offers friendly and professional beginner surf lessons in the clear calm
waters of Lembongan — a perfect introduction to surfing for kids and adults in a safe and
beautiful setting.

tropical surroundings — a lovely family activity on a slower day that sends everyone home with
new skills and full stomachs.

the island has in store.

Jimbaran Bay
Jimbaran is Bali’s calmer, more traditional south coast — a sheltered bay with fishing boats,
calm swimmable water, and a beautiful easy going energy that suits families particularly well.
The Morning Fish Market is a brilliant early adventure — boats arrive back to shore with the
day’s catch in a riot of colour and activity. Kids love the energy and the novelty of it all and it is
an experience completely off the usual tourist trail.
Sundara Beach Club at the Four Seasons is one of Jimbaran’s most spectacular family day out
options. A free kids club for ages 4 to 12, all-inclusive brunch packages, and beachfront pool
access in a setting that genuinely takes your breath away.
Jenggala Ceramics is a beautiful gallery, shop, and café where families can join a Paint-a-Pot
session to decorate their own mug, bowl, or plate. Your creation is fired and ready in a few days
— a wonderful Bali keepsake to bring home.
Go-karting at Karting Star gives kids and adults a brilliantly fun active afternoon on a 400 metre
track. Helmets provided and bookings recommended — one of those activities everyone ends
up enjoying far more than expected.
Jungle Play Jimbaran is a jungle-themed play venue with outdoor playground, water park
elements, creative activities, and holiday programmes for kids. A great active option for a
morning or afternoon in the Jimbaran area.
