Yes — pool fence installation is one of the things that makes our baby friendly Bali villas genuinely different. We coordinate installation through our trusted local partners before you arrive, so the fence is ready and waiting when you check in.

We do not install right at the pool edge — we create a properly considered fenced zone that includes space for pool furniture inside, so parents can supervise comfortably with full visibility of the water. We also assess garden ponds and water features at each property and flag anything that needs attention.

The fence is removed discreetly after checkout.

Every family that books through Bali Family Villas receives a comprehensive range of complimentary baby equipment delivered and set up at the villa before arrival.

This includes baby cots with mosquito nets, high chairs, car seats, stair gates, baby monitors, baby bouncers, baby baths, bottle sterilisers, toy baskets, play equipment, pool floats, swim vests, travel strollers, and potties.

If there is something specific you need that is not on our list, we can arrange additional items at wholesale hire rates.

Please discuss which items you need with our concierge team when you enquire and we will add them to your pre-arrival checklist.

Please note that Nusa Lembongan has its own local suppliers for baby equipment essentials given its island location.

Our Australian owned team will make sure everything is ready and waiting.

Travel to Bali

Do I need a visa to travel to Bali?

Most visitors can obtain:

  • Visa on Arrival (VOA)
  • Or apply online before arrival

Visa requirements depend on your passport country. Always check current Indonesian immigration requirements before travel.

See our overview here

All international visitors are required to pay the Bali Tourism Levy (also known as the Love Bali Levy).

  • Payable online before arrival
  • Or at the airport after baggage collection
  • Separate from visa fees

Keep your QR receipt. This is not checked or regulated and a separate initiative to compulsory immigration / entry requirements to Bali.

Yes — we can arrange:

  • Private airport transfers
  • Larger vehicles for extended families
  • Complimentary baby seats on request

Your driver will meet you at arrivals with a name sign.

Locations & Areas

Which areas of Bali are best for families?

Popular family areas include:

  • Canggu – cafes, beach vibe, play areas
  • Seminyak – central & walkable
  • Sanur – calm swimming beaches
  • Ubud – nature & culture

If travelling with young children, we will advise of attractions in the area for your family.

Canggu is more vibrant and energetic — a thriving expat family community has created an extraordinary activity scene for kids including cafes with play spaces, surf lessons, padel, and horse riding. Canggu also tends to have more purpose built private pool villas with family friendly floor plans

Seminyak is polished, walkable, and suits families who want iconic dining, calmer beaches, and Bali villas walking distance to shops and beach

For longer stays many families split their time between both.

Our team is always happy to help you decide.

Canggu in the Berawa pocket has excellent family infrastructure built by the local expat community.

Seminyak is a strong choice with good footpaths, walkability, and Bali villas walking distance to shops and beach

Sanur is great for families with very young children who want a calm swimming beach and a boardwalk perfect for prams and strollers

Uluwatu beaches can be trickier with steps down to the water but beach clubs in the area provide good solutions.

A baby carrier as well as a stroller can be really handy across all areas of Bali.

The right choice often comes down to the villa itself — our team is always happy to guide you.

Canggu is the natural home base for teenage energy in Bali — padel, surf lessons, horse riding, a vibrant cafe scene, and a beach culture that teenagers connect with immediately.

Bingin and the Bukit Peninsula suit teenagers who are serious about surf or want a more adventurous atmosphere with dramatic clifftop scenery

Seminyak works well for teenagers who love boutique shopping, markets, and jewellery making classes

Waterbom Park and Trans Studio Mall with go-karting and a Gold Class cinema are easily accessible as day trips from both Canggu and Seminyak.

Ubud is brilliant for a day trip or short stay — white water rafting, cooking classes, and cultural experiences like the Kecak fire dance are all genuinely impressive for older teenagers.

Nusa Lembongan is a 30 minute fast boat ride from Sanur and is a wonderful choice for families.

It is a low traffic island with crystal clear water, white sand beaches, and a pace of life that feels like a genuine reset.

The island is small enough to feel safe and easy with kids — tuk tuks, jeeps, and scooters only, no busy roads.

Snorkelling, surf lessons, and mini golf are all brilliant family activities. If you are not in the water you are admiring it — that is the Lembongan experience.

We have an amazing selection of beachfront villas on Lembongan that are among the most special properties in our entire portfolio. One honest note — if you are not comfortable without car seats, Lembongan may be better suited when the little ones are a bit bigger.

Ubud is a brilliant choice for families who want more than just a beach holiday.

The town centre is full of life — boutique shops, art markets, great cafes, and the famous Monkey Forest.

Beyond the town, cooking classes, traditional art studios, water blessing ceremonies, and nature walks through rice fields and jungle make every day feel like a genuine adventure.

There are brilliant kids clubs in the area too.

Ubud is inland so there are no beach clubs — but the pool clubs more than make up for it.

Many families combine a few nights in Ubud with a coastal villa stay and our team is always happy to help plan that split itinerary.

Concierge & Extras

Can you help plan activities for families in Bali?

Absolutely. We can assist with trusted suggestions for:

  • Surf lessons
  • Waterbom
  • Day trips & In-Villa experiences
  • Private drivers
  • In-villa spa treatments

Daily housekeeping is included at all Villas, and many have night security. There will also be a garden / pool attendant. If you would like a car with driver, massage services, babysitting, a yoga class or other they can most often be arranged on request. We have also helped guests with party planning and entertainment, birthday cakes and unique requests in the past.

Some Villas include a cooking service with the in-villa team and other require advance booking of freelance chefs. This information will be provided at the time of your enquiry/reservation.

We provide complimentary car seats for airport transfers, baby cots, high chairs, toy baskets and pool floats. Travel strollers, bottle sterilisers, baby baths, baby bouncers, stair gates and monitors are also available on request. The little things go a long way when travelling with children.

We can also help arrange a pool fence if required which is an extra charge and based on the size of the pool and the system that best suits each property. We will arrange a quote from our trusted external supplier and most pools can have a pool fence. An approximate guide is around AUD35-45/day..

For inspiration, you may like to see our  Concierge Services.

Our concierge service goes far beyond a standard villa booking.

Before you arrive we provide pre-arrival travel information, a Bali guide and local advice tailored to your family, a pre-arrival shopping list at selected villas, and all complimentary baby equipment set up and ready.

During your stay we can arrange airport transfers, a car with driver for day trips, scooter hire, in-villa massage and spa, yoga and wellness sessions, suggested activities, and connections to trusted local suppliers for anything else you need.

We also coordinate pool fence installation, home visit doctors, and celebration services.

At the Villa you will meet the Villa staff. They will be on hand for day-to-day questions. Bali Family Villas can be contacted during your stay by phone or email if you need any assistance. We want your holiday to be a truly exceptional and memorable experience.

Most of our villa reservations include a complimentary arrival transfer — your driver will meet you at the airport with a name sign so you are never left searching.

Our team can also arrange additional transfers as needed throughout your stay, whether from the airport, a hotel, or another venue if you are already in Bali.

All transfers include car seats — rear facing for younger babies and booster seats for older children — so families can travel safely and comfortably from the moment they land.

Services during my Villa stay in Bali

Can I have a celebration or party at the Villa?

Having a good time and celebrating with family is part of a great holiday! However, when it comes to entertaining outside guests or hosting a party with extra people who are not within the capacity requirements of the accommodation, permission is required. Many Villas have event policies and extra fees may apply. Please discuss with us what you have in mind before inviting outside suppliers or groups of friends to the Villa.

Generally speaking, check in time is 3pm and check out time is 12 noon. Guest schedules are of course accommodated wherever possible and we will communicate with the Villa staff and let you know what is possible. A late check out until 6pm or so is charged at 50% of the day rate as many flights depart Bali in the evening. In most cases, you can also store your luggage at the Villa for the afternoon and return to meet our driver at the designated time for your departing flight.

There are strict capacity rules at all Villas, and we need to know all guest numbers including children before arrival. Babies in cots or very young children sharing existing bedding with parents is permitted at most properties. Additional beds can be requested at charge.

Each private villa has slightly different set ups but generally the in-house staff do all your grocery shopping and errands and prepare your meals accordingly on request. You will be provided with the details and inclusions of each property so you know what to expect. We will also share some local tips of food delivery services which are excellent. If you have some essential items that you would like ready on arrival (milk, bread, cheese, fruit, drinks etc) let us know and we can arrange a pre-arrival shop for you at select Villas.

We can discuss allergies in advance with the kitchen staff and have had several guests with nut, gluten or egg allergies. It is possible to brief the staff, but we also recommend you supervise food preparation to minimise risk. We can also arrange to purchase new pots and pans (at cost) that can only be used for you. We also have food catering and delivery options we can discuss with you.

Yes safe bottled drinking water will be provided at the Villa.

The tap water is not safe to drink. Do not even rinse your toothbrush with it if you can avoid it. It is common for all dishes and cutlery to be washed in tap water at restaurants and Villas, however you can request that your children bottles can be washed in bottled water and sterilized in boiling water. The Villas provide bottled drinking water. Microwaves are not common in Bali as they use a lot of electricity so you may sterilise the old fashion way, by boiling water on the stove or with use of a bottle steriliser.

Linens, bath towels, pool towels and basic toiletries will be provided at the Villa. See our Practical Guide To Bali here.

Questions About Bali

Should I bring local currency from home?

There are several ATMs in Bali so withdrawing cash in local IDR currency is easy. Many fixed price shops and restaurants accept credit card payments. Tap or paywave is becoming more common but not always available so we recommend bringing a physical ATM card also

A private Villa is an intimate experience where you can totally relax and enjoy your holiday at your own pace. You can request meals and services from in-house staff at times that suit you and enjoy a truly private environment. If it is ‘people watching’ and a chance to socialise with other holiday makers in communal areas perhaps a hotel would suit you better. Often our clients spend half of their time at a boutique hotel and retreat to a rental villa for the remaining part of their stay. It’s your holiday, you choose what appeals to you.

You can ask our team or your Villa Manager to arrange a car with driver for your stay or for day trips. Taxis are also easily arranged and affordable.  Car seats are not required by law, and you may find taxis and hire cars even without seat belts. Scooter hire is also popular. We recommend extreme caution and never ever without a helmet. Public transport as such doesn’t really exist. We recommend downloading the Go-Jek app to arrange transport in Bali.  It is like Uber and cost effective and easy to use.

You can buy most essential (and non essential items) in Bali.

We recommend bringing with you Milk Formula if your baby is accustomed to a particular variety.

You can buy cheese, yogurt and regular pasteurised milk as well as fresh produce readily but rusks, corn cakes, muesli bars, fruit bars and sugar free toddler snacks are not easy to locate. Nappies can be purchased easily, however, we recommend bringing a supply of quality Huggies or similar for night time use as they are more absorbent than the locally available product.

Due to Government taxes Alcohol purchased within Indonesia is up to 50% more expensive than in Australia and there is also a limited selection. If you would like to enjoy the wine, champagne or spirits of your choice during your stay, we recommend bringing a bottle with you from Australia. Visitors to Indonesia are permitted to bring 1 litre of alcohol into the country per adult visitor.

Please let us know if you have questions about any particular item.

Large Group & Celebration Villas

How many guests can a large group villa in Bali sleep?

Our large group villas sleep anywhere from 10 to 32 or more guests across multiple bedrooms.

We have properties ranging from 6 bedroom private estates to sprawling 16 bedroom compounds with multiple pools, full staff teams, and event-ready outdoor spaces. Several of our villas feature family friendly floor plans with bunk beds, interconnecting bedrooms, and extra beds specifically for children — perfect for large family groups.

Tell us your group size and we will find the right fit.

Yes — for groups that cannot fit under one roof we can arrange neighbouring or nearby villas that work well when booked together. This is a popular option for very large reunions or groups of 25 or more.

It is important to us that any villas we recommend combining are under the same managing staff team — this means the whole group can gather together freely and the experience feels seamless rather than split.

Our team helps coordinate everything so both properties work as one cohesive stay.

Canggu and Seminyak have our strongest large group villa collections — both offer excellent staff, proximity to restaurants and beach clubs, and properties purpose built for groups.

We also have great options in Bingin, Sanur, and Nusa Lembongan.

With a large group walkability is key — and for those happy with a more immersive destination experience we have large group options in Ubud and Outer Seminyak too.

You can buy most essential (and non essential items) in Bali.

We recommend bringing with you Milk Formula if your baby is accustomed to a particular variety.
