There’s a moment on every big Bali trip when someone in the group chat says, “Why don’t we just get one villa for everyone?” It’s a good instinct. Bali large group villas are one of the easiest ways to keep a big crew (cousins, grandparents, old uni friends, whoever) under one roof, without getting lost between big hotel layouts. But not every villa that says “sleeps 20” is actually set up for it.
Here’s what we’ve learned booking large group villas in Bali since 2012. We know what works, and we’re here to help.

Why families and friend groups choose one big villa over separate hotel rooms
Split a big group across hotel rooms and you lose the thing you actually came for: time together. A private villa keeps everyone at the same address, sharing the pool, kitchen and living spaces, while each family or couple still gets their own bedroom and privacy.
It also tends to be kinder on the budget. Splitting the nightly rate across 10 or 15 guests often works out cheaper than the equivalent number of hotel rooms, and you get a lot more for it: multiple living areas, a private pool and a dedicated villa team.
That’s exactly why we built our Bali Large Group Villas collection. It’s a curated set of properties with 6 or more bedrooms, hand-picked because genuinely large villas are in short supply across the island.

What actually makes a villa suited to large groups
A big bedroom count alone doesn’t make a villa group-friendly. Here’s what we check before a property makes it into our collection. Enough shared space, not just enough beds.
Group holidays run on communal moments: long breakfasts, everyone in the pool at once, one big dinner table for the whole crew. We look for open-plan living and dining areas sized for the full group, not just for two. We also know which villas can properly cater for big-group meals, so we’ll point you to the ones that can. We also count ensuites, not beds, because “sleeps 20” can include sofa beds and shared bathrooms.
Bedroom configurations that suit mixed groups. Large families usually need a mix of king rooms for the parents and bunk or twin setups for kids and teens. Villa Marang in Canggu has a dedicated bunk room, so the kids get their bunks and the parents still get a proper king.
Villas that can flex up or down. Numbers change right up until departure. Villa Relax Bingin on the Bukit Peninsula can be booked as 10 or 12 bedrooms across separate
bungalows, so you’re not paying for space you don’t need, or scrambling if the group grows.
Estates and neighbouring villas for very large groups. For 20 or more, we often
recommend properties within the same estate or private compound, like Villa Mannao Estate in Seminyak. It spans around 11 pavilions across two connected compounds, so everyone stays close without one villa having to sleep the whole group.
Booking neighbouring villas? Make sure they share the same management. A big group gathering at one villa without approval can lead to entertaining or event fees. We know which villas can be paired as neighbours, so your group can move freely between the two.
On-island support. Big groups mean more moving parts: staggered arrivals, dietary needs, celebrations to plan. A villa team on the ground, plus a local agency behind you, makes a real difference.

Popular reasons groups book together in Bali
Large group villas suit more occasions than you might expect:
• Family reunions and multi-generational trips (see our best villas for multi-generational
family reunions)
• Milestone birthdays and anniversaries
• Group holidays with friends
• Wellness and yoga retreats
• Wedding guest accommodation
• Corporate offsites and team incentive trips
If you’re coordinating a retreat or corporate group, our team also handles custom
accommodation and program planning through Bali Retreat Villas. Worth a look if venue briefs and logistics are part of your job right now.

Where to look for large group villas in Bali
Genuinely large villas (7 bedrooms and up) cluster in a handful of areas, each with its own
feel:
• Canggu: surf, cafes and a young, social energy. Good for friend groups and multi-
family trips with older kids. Allow extra time for anything by road.
• Uluwatu & The Bukit: clifftop estates and beach clubs, popular for retreats and milestone celebrations. It’s a longer transfer from the airport, often an hour or more depending on traffic, so factor that into arrival days.
• Seminyak & Outer Seminyak: central and walkable, close to dining and shopping. For a really big crew, the Villa Abaca Collection gives you 16 bedrooms in the heart of central Seminyak. Book restaurants ahead for a group of 15 or more, as many places can’t seat you on the night.
• Nusa Lembongan: a quieter, island-life pace, like Villa Sayang Besar, a two-tier property right by Tamarind Beach. You’ll take a fast boat from Sanur first, so plan luggage and mixed ages around the crossing.
Or if you’d rather have a secluded villa where you can stay put and make your own fun, we have some amazing destination villas, like Villa Crystal Castle in Ubud.
If none of these quite fit the brief, get in touch.
A few things to sort out early
Book earlier than you think. Large villas are limited in number, and the good ones for 8+ bedrooms move fast, especially in Bali’s peak season (July–August and Christmas–New Year). Aussie school holidays get busy too.
Agree on a budget model before you shop. Splitting per bedroom, per couple or per head all work. Just decide as a group first so no one’s surprised later.
Ask us about extras up front. Airport transfers, private chefs, in-villa dining and celebration planning can all be organised as part of your stay. It’s far easier to sort them before arrival, so let us know early. A group of 15 won’t fit in one van, so we’ll line up transport too.
Travel light with babies and toddlers. We provide all the extras, from cots and high chairs
to pool fencing, so there’s nothing to pack. Here’s more on our baby equipment and pool
fences.
Let us help you find the right one
Finding the right large group villa in Bali comes down to matching bedroom layout, location and shared space to how your group actually wants to spend the days. There’s a limited pool of properties that deliver on all three.
If you’d rather not scroll through listings trying to match everyone’s needs, our team can shortlist a few options based on your group size, dates and budget, then coordinate
everything from transfers to celebration planning once you’ve booked.

FAQs about Bali large group villas
How many people can a large group villa in Bali sleep?
Most of our large group villas range from 6 to 16 bedrooms, sleeping anywhere from around 12 to 32 guests. Some estate-style properties, like Villa Mannao, can accommodate even larger numbers across connected compounds.
Is it cheaper to book one large villa than several hotel rooms?
Often, yes. Splitting the nightly rate across the whole group tends to work out more cost-effective than booking multiple hotel rooms, and you get far more shared space.
Which areas of Bali have the most large group villas?
Canggu, Seminyak, Uluwatu and the Bukit Peninsula have the widest selection of 6+ bedroom villas. Nusa Lembongan is a good option for groups after a quieter, island-paced stay.
Can a large group villa be booked with fewer bedrooms if my group is smaller?
Yes. Several of our large group properties can be rented with fewer bedrooms, so the villa can flex to your final guest count.
Do large group villas come with a private chef or catering?
Many can arrange private chefs, in-villa dining and catering on request. We know which villas handle big-group meals best, so raise it when you enquire and we’ll build it into your stay from the start.
