Pool fencing is not required by law in Bali, and it’s not standard across even the most well-appointed villas.
The solution we arrange for families is temporary hire fencing — a temporary fence with a self-closing, child-proof gate installed around the pool perimeter before you arrive and removed at the end of your stay. It doesn’t damage decking or gardens, and a properly installed one is a genuine barrier rather than a cosmetic addition.
A pool fence is a strong first line of defence, but it works alongside supervision rather than replacing it. We still recommend that one adult is always the designated pool watcher when kids are in or near the water — the same as you would at home.
