Seminyak with Kids

Seminyak has a reputation for beach clubs, boutique shopping and long lunches, but don’t let that fool you. Underneath the buzz, it’s one of the easiest parts of Bali to holiday in with children. The footpaths are wide enough for a pram, the beach is a short stroll from most villas, and there’s enough good coffee (and family friendly outings) to keep everyone in the family happy.

If you’re weighing up Seminyak against Canggu or Uluwatu for your next trip, here’s what a family holiday in Seminyak actually looks like, and how to make the most of it.

Why Seminyak Works So Well for Families

Seminyak sits between the surf energy of Canggu and the older-school charm of Legian, and it borrows the best of both. A few reasons families keep coming back:

  • Walkable streets. Proper footpaths (a rarity in parts of Bali) make it far easier to manage strollers, tired toddlers and beach bags.
  • Everything is close together. Beach, restaurants, spas, supermarkets and pharmacies are usually a short walk or a five-minute drive from your villa.
  • A genuinely good food scene. From casual warungs to beach clubs with kids’ menus, there’s very little “eating out with kids” compromise here.
  • Villas built for groups. Seminyak has some of Bali’s best multi-bedroom villas, including estates that comfortably sleep extended families of 10 or more.

We’ve been sending Australian and international families to Seminyak since 2012, and it remains one of our most requested locations for exactly these reasons.

Best Things to Do in Seminyak with Kids

Double Six Beach The stretch of sand near Double Six is wide, easy to access, and a good spot for beginner surf lessons. Local instructors are used to teaching kids, and there’s plenty of shade and warungs nearby for when little legs need a break.

KuDeTa Kids Day KuDeTa’s Kids Day is a Seminyak institution, with activities, games and a menu built for younger guests while parents enjoy the beachfront setting. Worth booking ahead in peak season.

The Seminyak Art Markets A colourful maze of stalls selling sarongs, woodcarvings and trinkets, the art markets are made for a bit of gentle haggling. Kids tend to love picking out their own souvenirs, and grandparents love the theatre of the bargaining.

Sunset at Oberoi Beach Seminyak’s sunsets are genuinely something to plan an evening around. Grab a mat, some snacks from a beachfront warung, and let the kids run off the day’s energy while the sky does its thing.

In-villa extras for the little ones Our team can arrange face painting, canang sari (offering) making with a local guide, and kids’ craft sessions right at your Seminyak villa. A nice option on a day you’d rather not leave the pool.

Where to Stay in Seminyak with Kids

The right villa makes or breaks a family trip, so location and layout matter more than they might elsewhere. Look for a pool fence, bedrooms that are close together or interconnected, and enough living space that nobody’s tripping over the porta-cot.

Our Seminyak villas collectionis hand-picked with exactly this in mind, from three-bedroom Oberoi villas walkable to the beach through to larger estates for extended family groups. A few favourites for families:

  • Villa Lulito : a four-bedroom villa in the Oberoi with a kids’ playroom, bunk room and pool fencing, one minute from the beach.
  • Villa Massilia Tiga: a stylish three-bedroom retreat in central Seminyak with in-villa cooking service and baby essentials on request.

If you’d prefer a quieter, more residential feel just outside the main strip, our Outer Seminyak villas are worth a look too, including larger estates suited to multi-generational trips.

Family-Friendly Dining in Seminyak

Seminyak doesn’t skimp on family dining. La Luciola offers relaxed beachfront tables the whole family can settle into, while Bali Bakery and the many local warungs along Jalan Kayu Aya are reliable, casual options after a big day at the beach. Most higher-end restaurants are used to accommodating kids, though it’s worth calling ahead for a high chair during peak season.

Practical Tips for Travelling to Seminyak with Young Children

Book baby gear ahead of time. Cots, high chairs, car seats and pool fencing are easy to arrange in advance rather than trying to source them on arrival.

Ask about pool safety. Not every villa has a pool fence as standard, so always confirm before you book if you’re travelling with toddlers.

Pack light on baby equipment. Most of what you need (strollers, baby monitors, stair gates, pool floats) can be arranged for you, saving precious suitcase space.

Plan around the heat. Late morning to mid-afternoon gets hot; mornings and late afternoons are best for beach time and markets.

Our concierge service covers all of this: cots, high chairs, car seats, pool fence coordination and more, arranged before you land, so you can travel lighter and relax sooner.
